How to Use Power Smart App to Submit Meter Reading – Guide
In the past, many people in Pakistan received wrong electricity bills. Sometimes the meter reader skipped your house. Sometimes they added estimated units. And – Sometimes, they just guessed the numbers. And because of that, bills were too high and unfair.
Now, Power Smart App has been launched by the Government of Pakistan. With this app:
- You can submit your own electricity meter reading.
- You can see your exact electricity bill.
- You can pay the bill online.
- You can also view and print your electricity bill directly from the app.
This full and simple guide is written by me, Shaukat from AllPrograms.com.pk, after personally using PowerSmart app. So, if you want a guide that is very easy to understand, and explains everything step by step, then this post is for you.
And yes, I’ve also written a separate post just on this topic: Apna Meter Apni Reading Scheme 2025 – Submit Your Reading: If you want to understand this scheme in full detail, make sure to read it too.
How to use Power Smart to Submit Meter Reading?
Step 1: Install the Power Smart App (Official Method)
PowerSmart App is available for all major platforms:
| Device | How to Install |
|---|---|
| Android | Open Google Play Store → Search “Power Smart” → Tap ‘Install’ |
| iPhone (iOS) | Open App Store → Search “Power Smart” → Tap ‘Get’ |
Power Smart App – Google Play (Official)
Power Smart App – Apple App Store (Official)
Once installed, it’s time to create your account.
Step 2: Signup Guide – Create Your Account
When you open the app, it asks you to Sign In. But since you’re a new user, you need to click Sign Up first.
Here’s what you’ll fill in:
Required Fields:
| Field | What to Do |
|---|---|
| Select Distribution Company (DISCO) | Click on “Select DISCO” and choose yours: LESCO, MEPCO, FESCO, GEPCO, IESCO, HESCO, PESCO, SEPCO, QESCO, TESCO, SUNDAR |
| Full Name | Enter the name exactly as it appears on your CNIC or bill |
| Email Address | Optional, you can skip it |
| Mobile Provider | Choose (Jazz, Zong, Ufone, Telenor, Onic, Warid, etc.) |
| Mobile Number | Start with 03 (like 03001234567) |
| CNIC Number | Enter without dashes (e.g. 3520123456789) |
| Password | Create a strong password: |

After filling in all the details, click Sign Up. Now your account is ready & you will automatically login to Power Smart App!
Step 3: Add Your Meter in the Power Smart App
After signup, the app takes you to the home screen. The first thing you should do is click on the “Add Meter +” button.
My Real Experience (by Shaukat):
When I clicked “Add Meter”, the app tried to find my meter but said: “No meter found, please add manually.”
So I clicked the “+” icon in the bottom-right corner.

Now you’ll get 2 options to add your meter:
-
By Reference Number
-
By Consumer ID
Where to Find Consumer ID / Reference No?
Now you might ask, what is a Reference Number, what is a Consumer ID, and how do you find your Meter Number? Very simple! Just take out your old electricity bill — all these details are clearly written on it. Look at the top-left area of the bill.
You will see:
-
Consumer ID – usually written near the top.
-
Reference Number – found just below the connection date or address.
In my MEPCO bill, both were clearly shown on the left — right above the name/address and just below the connection date.

I chose Consumer ID, because it felt shorter. (Yes, I know — lazy Shaukat moment! ) Don’t worry, you can use either one — both will work perfectly!
Add Meter Now:
-
Choose your distribution company
-
Enter Consumer ID or Reference No
-
Solve the captcha
-
Click Confirm
Now, you’ll see your full meter details:
-
Your Name
-
My Respected Father’s Name
-
Reference Number
-
Meter Type (Single/Three Phase)
-
Connection Type
-
Division/Subdivision
-
Complete Address

Click Confirm again.
Note: Sometimes it may take 15–30 seconds to load. Don’t press back or exit the app. Let it complete the process. Once your meter is added, it will show in the “Connection List”.
I noticed the “Add Meter” button was still there, so I thought maybe I can add more. I opened my father’s bill, took his Consumer ID, added it — and guess what? It worked! Now both my and my father’s meters are added in the app. I can submit readings for both. This is very helpful because my father doesn’t use a smartphone. Now I can do it for him too.
Honestly, I tried to find how many meters you can add in this Powersmart app — but didn’t find any limit mentioned. But yes, Power Smart App supports multiple meters, and you can manage all of them easily.
All the meters you’ve added will appear in the Connection List inside the app. And if you want to add more, just tap the big “+” button at the bottom right corner. It’s that simple — add your house meter, your father’s meter, or anyone else’s — and manage all readings with just one app. You can see the picture below as well:

Step 4: Submit Meter Reading via Power Smart App
This is the most important part – submitting your monthly meter reading. Follow these steps:
Where to Go?
-
Open Power Smart App
-
Tap “Services” from the bottom menu
-
Click on “Self Reading”
-
Allow location access (this is mandatory)
You’ll see a warning:
By submitting a reading, you confirm that the image is real. Fake readings may result in legal action.
Click “I Understand” to proceed.
Step-by-Step Meter Reading Submission:
| Step | Description |
|---|---|
| Enter Reference Number | 14-digit number from your bill |
| Select Your Meter | If you’ve added more than one |
| Enter Meter Reading | Read digits from meter → Only enter whole numbers, skip decimals. Example: if meter shows 4567.89 → enter only “4567” |
| Take Photo | Tap camera icon → Allow permission → Capture meter photo clearly |
| Check Photo | Make sure digits are visible and photo is not blurry |
| Submit Reading | Click “Submit” or “Upload” |

After submission, you’ll get a confirmation message, and sometimes even an SMS alert.
Submit on Time:
- Always try to submit your meter reading on or near your scheduled date. This helps the company accept your reading without delay.
Use Correct Reference Number:
- Don’t worry — once you enter the correct 14-digit Reference Number, the power smart app will automatically show you the meter reading schedule.
So just stay honest, submit on time, and your bill will stay fair and correct.
Step 5: Mobile Number Not Registered for Self Meter Reading?
The first time you try to submit your meter reading in Power Smart App, you might see an error like this:
Your mobile number is not registered for self meter reading.
But don’t panic! And please, don’t close the app. Just tap the “Register” button — and follow these simple steps:
Step-by-Step: Register Your Mobile Number
After clicking “Register”, you’ll be taken to the Mobile Number Registration form. Here, you’ll see two sections:
1. Owner Particulars
2. Occupant Particulars
First, Fill “Occupant Particulars”
This is the section you’ll complete first, especially if the Owner section is not editable. Fill in the following:
-
Name
-
CNIC Number
-
Mobile Network Provider (Jazz, Zong, Ufone, Telenor, Onic, Warid, etc.)
-
Mobile Number (Start with 0, e.g., 03001234567)
-
Email Address
-
Upload CNIC Front Image
Then, Choose Your Property Status
You’ll be asked: What is your relation with this property?
Choose one of these 3 options:
-
I’m the Owner
→ Upload your property proof (e.g., registry papers) -
I Have Property Documents
→ Upload your rent agreement -
I Don’t Have Property Documents
→ Upload an affidavit

Then, also upload a photo of your latest electricity bill.
After That…
Tap the “Submit” button. Once submitted, your “Owner Particulars” section will auto-fill based on your info. And that’s it — you’re now registered! This is a one-time setup. After this, you’ll be able to submit your reading every month easily.
Power Smart App will even notify you when your meter reading date comes. So, no stress — just open the app and send your reading on time.

How to Sign In to Power Smart App?
When you close the app or leave it for a few minutes, it automatically signs out. So, next time you open it, you’ll need to sign in again. But don’t worry — signing in is very easy, and you get 3 different options to log in:
- Email + Password
- CNIC Number + Password
