Himmat Card & Assistive Devices Wheel Chair Program 2025 for Disabled Persons

There are some people in life who don’t just promise change — they create it. One of them is Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif. In 2025, she launched two deeply emotional and life-changing programs for the people of Punjab — the Himmat Card and the Assistive Devices & Wheelchair Program.

These programs are not just about money or machines. They are about dignity, respect, and a chance to live independently for thousands of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Punjab.

For years, many differently-abled people were forced to depend on others for their daily needs — even for simple things like moving around, paying bills, or buying groceries. The government now wants to remove these barriers and give them a new sense of empowerment.

And that’s where the Himmat Card and Assistive Devices Program come in —

  • A card for financial independence,
  • And devices for physical freedom.

What is the Himmat Card?

What is the Himmat Card?

The Himmat Card is not an ordinary ATM card. It’s a symbol of respect and inclusion.

Under this program, 100,000 persons with disabilities (PWDs) across Punjab will receive ATM cards to get financial assistance of Rs10,500 every 3 months.

“Imagine a person named Asad, living in Faisalabad, who cannot walk due to an accident. For years, he depended on others for every rupee. Now, with the Himmat Card, he can go to an ATM, withdraw his money, and spend it independently — with no middleman, no waiting, no humiliation.”

That’s why this card is called “Himmat”, meaning courage.

Why these Programs Was Launched – Maryam Nawaz’s Vision

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz strongly believes that every person deserves equal respect and equal opportunity, regardless of their physical ability.

Her government noticed that persons with disabilities often faced:

  • Difficulty in accessing government aid

  • Lack of special transport and accessibility

  • Unemployment and poverty

  • Dependence on family members for small tasks

To solve these issues, she decided to create a structured support system that would give both financial help and physical aid.

Thus, 2 programs were born together under the Department of Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal Punjab:

  1. Himmat Card Program

  2. Assistive Devices (Wheelchair) Program

These programs are connected — one gives financial courage, and the other gives physical support.

Women Quota:

  • 30% of all cards are reserved for women — to encourage empowerment among differently-abled women in Punjab.

Himmat Card & Assistive Devices (Wheelchair) Program

Himmat Card Phase 3 Has Officially Launched!

The journey of Himmat continues!
Under the vision of CM Maryam Nawaz, the third phase of the Himmat Card Program has now been launched.

In this new phase, 35,000 more persons with disabilities have been added — making the total number of beneficiaries reach 1 lakh across Punjab.
Each of them will now receive Rs10,500 every three months through their Himmat Card.

Maryam Nawaz has also announced that the program will soon expand to 2 lakh beneficiaries, so that no deserving person is left behind.

During the launch event, everyone felt proud seeing how the idea of Himmat is turning into reality.
The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) team was specially appreciated for their honest effort in managing the data and system.

This new phase is more than just an announcement — it’s a promise of hope, dignity, and inclusion for every differently-abled person in Punjab.

Now, The Assistive Devices & Wheelchair Program

Assistive Devices & Wheelchair Program

While the Himmat Card gives financial support, the Assistive Devices Program gives physical freedom.

Under this initiative, the government provides free wheelchairs, hearing aids, prosthetic limbs, and orthotic devices to those who need them.

Imagine a child who could not go to school because of mobility issues.
Now, with a motorized wheelchair, that child can go to school, learn skills, and dream big.

That’s the real purpose behind this project — mobility with dignity.

Types of Assistive Devices Offered

The program offers several types of devices depending on the user’s need and doctor’s recommendation:

Device Type Details
Manual Active Wheelchair For adults who can self-propel and need mobility support
Pediatric Manual Wheelchair For children with disabilities
Motorized Wheelchair For individuals who cannot move manually
Digital Hearing Aids For people with hearing disabilities (with batteries & molds)
Prosthetic Limbs & Orthotics For those with missing or weak limbs

and 17 more assistive devices will also be provided.

Connection Between Himmat Card & Assistive Devices / Wheelchair Program

Both programs — the Himmat Card and the Assistive Devices & Wheelchair Program — are part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s mission and working together to improve the lives of persons with disabilities across Punjab.

While they belong to the same initiative, their purposes are slightly different:

  • The Himmat Card provides a quarterly financial stipend (₨10,500 every three months) to persons with disabilities who are unable to earn a livelihood.

  • The Assistive Devices & Wheelchair Program focuses on providing physical support, such as wheelchairs, hearing aids, artificial limbs, and other assistive tools — based on each individual’s needs assessment.

CM Punjab Assistive Devices and Wheelchair Program

Having a Himmat Card is not strictly required to get a wheelchair or device, but it can make the process faster and smoother, as both programs are handled by the Social Welfare Department Punjab and share the same registration system.
